Everett, Washington

Real estate costs in Seattle are no longer affordable for many, drawing many buyers to the charm of Everett.  Realtors® know home buyers get more for their money in Everett.  For many, it is a bedroom community for the work day commute into Seattle.  The population is currently around 100,000.  But Everett has a growing job basis and identity all its own.  Like many of the original communities in Puget Sound, it is being rebuilt as the land continues to rise in value.

The average cost of an existing Everett home in 2005 was $275,000, 17% over 2004.  New home costs in Everett averaged $297,000 in 2005, a 14% increase in value.  Existing condos in Everett averaged an affordable $172,000.  This was also an increase in value of 14% over 2004.  New Everett condos averaged $222,000, an appreciation rate of 9%.

The biggest Everett employer is also the biggest tourist attraction.  Boeing's Everett plant employs thousands of workers and has a tremendous impact on the local economy.  Boeing can't keep up with their orders, which means great things for the local economy.  Also part of Boeing is their Museum of Flight, and their plant tours, which includes a trip inside the world's largest building.  Their Downtown Convention and Visitors bureau has helped to revitalize the downtown area.  The Port of Everett has a large private marina, a Farmer's Market and is next to the home of the U.S. Navy's Homeport fleet.

If you like minor league sports, Everett brings small town atmosphere with the Pacific Coast League AquaSox baseball team, Everett SilverTips hockey and the Everett Hawks arena league football team.  NASCAR fans only have a short drive to the Evergreen Speedway in Monroe.
