Average existing homes in Bellevue cost $661,000 in 2005, an increase of 20% over 2004.  The average cost of a new home in Bellevue was $1,088,000, an increase of 56%.  Condos averaged $247,000 for an existing unit in 2005, an increase in value of 16%.  New condos were a different story.  The average new condo cost $221,000, a decrease in value of 24%.  Bellevue is not building many condos. 

Bellevue’s resident population of 117,000 and daily workforce of about 121,000 make it Washington’s fifth-largest city.  Bellevue is a prosperous, increasingly diverse city that has evolved from a “bedroom community” into the economic and cultural hub of the Seattle-area’s Eastside.  The city has developed its downtown core into a major business and retail center while maintaining the safe, comfortable family neighborhoods for which it has long been popular.
